PROPS LIST
Leah (protagonist) drinks the wine, which is red; red connotes danger and is used as a signifier to warn people. Leah then knocks the wine in the wine glass, which then cracks. A wine glass and wine is usually associated with relaxation, however the contrast with the glass smashing is an omen for misfortune and something to happen in the future.
We wanted a setting that had a fireplace as it was written in our script. The fireplace again sets the scene to be calm and relaxed that could represent the protagonist’s feelings and moods. The fire being alight is very powerful; as fire destroys so it demonstrates the current moods in our scene. Fire is also a sign of danger.
We used photos, as they are evidence from the past. So this can foreshadow something in our film as we emphasised this in the opening scene. Without evidence there is very little you can do as it turns into a mystery.
Candles are seen in most thriller films, when the light flickers it sets the mood of scene as mysterious.
We have a close up of the clock; the sound of the ticking clock adds tension to our thriller.
We have a letter that is addressed to leah, the letter does not say who it is from so again it creates suspense and mystery to our psychological thriller.
Leah’s clothes are casual/ lounge so it suggests to the audience she is relaxed and in her own comfort, she also wears items of clothing that perhaps is for the young generation therefore, the thriller film will attract a young audience.
