In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In our media product we used various conventions, of thriller films by getting inspirations from previous 2 minute thriller openings.

One of our main features to our media product is that there will be no dialogue as we thought that it would build up suspense straight away. Not only does it build tension, but it allows the audience to question what is happening within the thriller.

As it is only two minutes long, what we are filming could just be a red herring, which is similar to Psycho, which develops forms of conventions of thrillers. E.g. The female character stealing money had nothing to do with the main part of the plot.

However we do not have generic omens. We created our own omen which was the breaking of a wine glass, which challenged the conventions of our short thriller film. It is questionable that our media product still fits into the genre of thriller.

We used titles in our media product like every other film. However, we challenged the conventions by making our titles plain and simple, rather than using fancy font.

Our media product uses conventions of thriller by showing lit candles, which connotes hell, pain and suffering. These conventions are commonly used in thriller films.

We used a young innocent female as the main and only character, which is similar to Alfred Hitchcock's thriller films.

We developed the conventions of thriller by using a broken glass in our media product to connote a broken state of mind, and the red wine spillage connoted blood. Two of them together could connote a crime scene.

We only had one main character who was female in our short thriller film which challenged conventions of thriller as thriller films tend to have a male lead character and several other main characters, however we only had one.
